Rifi: Impossible for a pro Syro Iranian to have access to the presidency

November 23, 2015 (REFERRING TO THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY – LEBANON) It is out of question for any pro-Syro-Iranian candidate to have access to the presidency, Justice Minister Ashraf Rifi stated upon conferring on retired general Bssam Ayyoubi a coat-of-arms during a ceremony at the latter’s Barghoun-Koura home on Monday.

Expressing appreciation for Ayyoubi’s policing tasks in Tripoli at the worst of times, the minister added that Lebanese Independence is regrettably lacking, albeit a number of police officers (whom Rifi listed), had given their lives in the line of duty.

The minister went on to salute army and police intelligence staff and personnel for their sacrifices reiterating that they alone were capable and qualified to defend the country. As Christians, Muslims, Sunnis, Shias and Druze dream about an authentic independence, a yet farfetched peace seems looming afar in Syria, non-the-less, this would-be respite may allow us to rebuild the fatherland, Rifi said.

“A new president must neither belong to March 14 nor to March 8 and subsequently Assad-connected Suleiman Frangieh stands no chance of becoming president,” the minister concluded.
