Pharaon: Lebanon is neither a battle field, nor a military base
November 22, 2015 (REFERRING TO THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY – LEBANON) Minister of Tourism Michel Pharaon said in a statement on Sunday that Lebanon bypassed certain formal measure concerning coordination with Cyprus, in order to stabilize aviation, noting that all states must deal with Lebanon on the basis of diplomatic respect.
He confirmed that flights would continue.
“Lebanon is not a battle field or a military base for any foreign power. It is our duty to safeguard it,” pointed out the Minister.
“Everyone, including the Russians and friendly states, must deal with Lebanon on the basis of respect of international resolutions and diplomatic rules.”
He explained that these rules and resolutions form an all inclusive legal ceiling “even in fighting terrorism.”
