MUSCAT: Several parts of Muscat governorate will continue to receive light to moderate rain on Wednesday, according to the Met office.

On Tuesday, Quriyat, Amerat and Al Khoudh in Seeb received light rainfall. The wilayats of Saham and Nizwa also experienced light to moderate rain.

A senior official from the Met office said that Tuesday’s rain was due to a low pressure system affecting Saudi Arabia. “It is a normal phenomenon during this time of the year and there is nothing to worry about.”

He added that the rain will lead to a slight dip in temperature. “Temperature in and around the city will be between 21 and 27°C.” The official said the maximum temperature in Jebel Shams is likely to be around 12°C while the minimum would be 4°C on Wednesday.

The Met office also forecast heavy rain in the northern and southern parts of Oman. “Parts of Dhahirah, Batinah, Musandam, Sur and Sohar will receive heavy rain,” the official said.

Fishermen have been strictly warned against venturing out into the sea as the wave height will be 3m.
