JAMIA MILLIA ISLAMIA ALUMNI MARKS FOUNDATION’S DAY

MUSCAT: Jamia Millia Islamia Alumni, Oman, celebrated the 95th Foundation’s Day on October 30 at Indian Embassy Muscat with much fervour and enthusiasm.

Jamia alumni from different parts of Oman came together on this occasion and celebrated the memorable event.

The event began with India’s National Anthem, after which the stage was taken by Tarana choir. The Tarana-e-Jamia with its highly inspiring lyrics, melodious soundtrack and beautiful singing mesmerised the audience present in the auditorium.

Indian Ambassador H E Indira Mani Pandey graced the occasion as the chief guest and alumni R J Naved (of Radio Mirchi fame) was the special guest of the evening.

The other guests of honour included Naushad Ansari, CEO, Jindal Shadeed, Noor Mohammed Ibrahim Vohra, GM, Gulf Petrochemical Services.

Some of the other prominent guests who graced the occasion were Lateef Shadad, GM, Mass International; Akbar Khan, CEO, Al Arabia; Raza Imam of Mehran Rice; Sheikh Kalim of Kalim Enterprises, R Ramesh, GM of Infocomm Group and Naser Salim al Abri of Al Bustan Constructions.

Tufail Ahmad, Jamia alumnus and president of Jamia Alumni Oman welcomed the gathering.

In an inspiring speech, H E Pandey said, “Parents should focus on moral values of their kids along with professional and academic education.”

On this special occasion the vice chancellor of the institution Professor Talat Ahmad sent his best wishes to the alumni and invited them to join Global Jamia Alumni Network (a new set up to help Jamia to connect with alumni all over the world and gain from their intellectual resources). Many other alumni also sent their best wishes from different parts of the globe.

Presence of Naved was icing on the cake. His witty and spontaneous presentation won the hearts of all. His lively performance with a tinge of humour added greater enthusiasm and exuberance to the celebration.

Interesting and captivating events and programmes were presented by the members of alumni and their children. A documentary on Jamia University History and the melodious song performances by Imtiaz, Tariq, Neha and a rocking song by Hiba kept the audience engrossed.

At the end there was a raffle-draw and gift distribution.
