Hariri: Presidency is the proper prelude to settlement

November 14, 2015 (REFERRING TO THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY – LEBANON) Former Prime Minister Saad Hariri said Saturday that “solidarity with our people in Burj el-Barajneh for what they suffered is a moral duty and a national responsibility,” adding that “the unity of the Lebanese people must prevail over any other consideration and conflict.”

He added via Twitter that, “thwarting discord in Lebanon requires fateful decisions that would prevent the country from plunging into surrounding wars.”

“We always called for a road map that starts with a consensus over the presidency,” Hariri indicated, noting that “it is the prelude to any settlement that will re-produce the executive power and electoral law.”

He concluded: “We look positively at any direction that meets the will of the majority of the Lebanese to find a solution to the presidential vacuum.”
