Hakim meets French Ambassador: To salvage Lebanon from political axes

November 12, 2015 (REFERRING TO THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY – LEBANON) Relations between Paris and Beirut, as well as the latest developments at the regional level featured high Thursday on discussions between Minister of Economy and Trade, Alain Hakim, and French ambassador to Lebanon, Emmanuel Bonne, at the Ministry.

In a statement issued later, the Minister expressed regret regarding the frequent violation of the Constitution, particularly in the context of holding a legislative session at the absence of a President and the stagnation of the government.

He called on France to help the country of the Cedars to dissociate themselves from the “axes of politics” and to push instead for the election of a new president.

In turn, the French diplomat reiterated his country’s commitment to “support all the initiatives that contribute to anchoring stability and growth in Lebanon and that strengthen the confidence of French companies in Lebanese markets, which remain, in the eyes the French, attractive for investment in the region.”
