ART OF C INITIATIVE TO SHOWCASE OMANI TALENT, PAY TRIBUTE TO COUNTRY’S HERITAGE

MUSCAT: The second edition of community initiative, Art of C, was launched at Qurum City Centre (QCC) on Sunday.

An initiative of QCC and Muscat City Centre (MCC) in collaboration with the Oman Society for Fine Arts, the programme will pay tribute to Omani heritage by holding a series of cultural activities till November 20.

The event is being held to mark the 45th National Day. The five-day programme will see some of Oman’s popular artists working on 3D C-shaped canvases at the two malls. Seven of the 11 artists will be working at MCC, while the other four will work at QCC.

Watfa Humaid al Harthy, senior mall manager QCC said, “Through the Art of C initiative, we bring together aspiring and professional artists to showcase locally-based talents while honouring the culture and heritage of Oman. What makes the programme more valuable is the opportunity to support the young generation as all proceeds of the workshop will be donated to the charity organisation, Dar al Atta’a.”

At the closing ceremony on November 19 in MCC, a jury will award cash prizes of RO1,000, RO750 and RO500 to the three best works of art. The initiative will also feature interactive workshops for children at both the malls where young artists can hone their skills for RO1.

Till November 19, both venues will also see performances of international gymnasts and drummers. On November 20, music lovers at MCC can enjoy the performance of Omani singer Nasr al Sulaimi, along with other local artistes.

“We are thrilled to provide a platform for talented home-grown artists and contribute to local charitable organisations, while highlighting the history and rich culture of Oman. “Being part of a thriving community follows our vision of creating great moments for everyone, everyday,” said Husam al Mandhari, senior mall manager for MCC.
