Aridi: Legislative sessions should be held against all odds

November 05, 2015 (REFERRING TO THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY – LEBANON) Member of Parliament, Ghazi Aridi, on Thursday stressed the importance of having the legislative session called forth by Speaker of the House Nabih Berri be held against all odds.

According to Aridi, the electoral law is one of the most complicated and the discussion could last for more than seven months, stressing that the legislation of laws concerning military salaries and employees cannot be expected unless the electoral law is approved.

“The economy is under threat and the Lebanese pound is in danger. The country might collapse because of stubbornness? This is unacceptable and illogical,” he proclaimed.

About the government’s position, Aridi said that the presence of a paralyzed government was better than resignation, noting that in the first case, the door remained open for a ministerial session any time.

Regarding the presidential election, he said that it was necessary to find a formula that leads to a consensus on this matter.

“The conflict is political and it is then necessary to find a political solution based on a compromise between the Lebanese,” the lawmaker added.
