Abu Ghazaleh: We should focus on education and digital learning to provide women with a greater opportunity to compete in labor market
November 17, 2015 (REFERRING TO THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY – LEBANON) Under the patronage of HRH Princess Taghrid Mohammad, the Princess Taghrid Institute for Arts and Handicrafts Development and Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAG-Org) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to cooperate in future projects of mutual interest.
The agreement was signed by HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh and the General Director of the Institute Dr. Aghadeer Jweihan, with the attendance of the representative of Princess Taghrid Vice Chairman of the Institute Ms. Zein Al Majali.
According to the MoU, these projects include dealing with Princess Taghrid Institute as the main supplier of catering for all TAG-Org activities and events, providing scholarships to the Institute’s outstanding students at Talal Abu-Ghazaleh College of Business and Abu-Ghazaleh Knowledge Forum (TAG-KS) on an equal basis with TAG-Org’s employees, preparing a training hall as a knowledge station at Princess Taghrid Institute in addition to holding training courses by TAG-KS for the Institute’s students.
The MoU also stipulates for the provision of training and job opportunities to the Institute’s students through TAG-Org.
During the signing ceremony, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh highly commended the existence of such an institution, extending his greetings to HRH Prince Mohammad and HRH Princess Taghrid.
He also indicated that the areas of cooperation between the two institutions are diverse, expressing his pride of the partnership with Princess Taghrid Institute for the services it renders to the local society.
Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh made clear that we are mostly concerned with providing digital education and qualification to all youth supported by the Institute to enable them to compete in the labor market.
He also indicated the various services where cooperation can be conducted by providing support in the marketing field for such Institute which provides the best services to a segment of the society that really needs a help, noting that TAG-Org will not only work on training, but will also cooperate with the Ministry of Labor in the program “Bawabati”. Such program provides a database for job seekers and employers to connect both parties and facilitate search for job.
On her part, Dr. Jweihan presented a brief about the Institute that is chaired by HRH Princess Taghrid Mohammad. She also pointed out the Institute’s objectives and achievements with regard to training and employing orphans and children of unknown descent, and the services provided to them including security, jobs, housing and supervision to provide a bright future to them.
She also indicated that the Institute was established to solve the problem of subsequent care for orphans after the age of sixteen, those orphans are then transferred to the local society to be integrated and find a dignified future. It is noted, however, that those orphans, especially the females, are more susceptible to exploitation and rejection by the society.
On the sideline of signing the MoU, a field tour in the different premises of the Institute was organized. The Institute manages several productive projects including productive kitchen, fashion design and embroidery, arts and handicrafts.
The Institute also holds different courses such as cosmetics, arts, handicrafts, secretarial work, computer skills, graphic design, nursing and languages among others.
